The General Counsel oversees and manages all legal matters for the Al-Furqaan Foundation and its entities.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing Legal Advice: The General Counsel advises the foundation’s executives, board of directors, and managers on various legal issues, including regulatory compliance, corporate governance, contract negotiations, employment law, intellectual property, and litigation.
Managing Legal Affairs: This role involves managing all legal affairs for the foundation and its entities, including drafting and reviewing contracts, negotiating settlements, overseeing litigation, and coordinating with outside counsel.
Ensuring Compliance: The General Counsel ensures the foundation and its entities comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to non-profits, business, environmental protection, labor, and data privacy.
Managing Risk: Identifying and managing legal risks that could impact the foundation’s operations, reputation, or financial standing is a critical function of this role.
Developing Legal Policies: The General Counsel is responsible for creating and implementing legal policies and procedures for the foundation and its entities, focusing on ethics, compliance, and risk management.
Collaborating with Other Departments: This role works closely with human resources, finance, and operations departments to provide legal advice and support across the organization.
Representing the Foundation & Entities: The General Counsel represents the foundation and its entities in legal proceedings, negotiations, and interactions with external parties, including regulators.
Qualifications:
A law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
Extensive legal experience, preferably within a corporate or non-profit environment.
Strong understanding of legal principles in areas such as regulatory compliance, corporate governance, contract law, and risk management.
Proven ability to provide strategic legal advice and guidance to senior leadership and boards of directors.
Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
Familiarity with non-profit laws and regulations is a plus.
Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
